The solution

Sotavia monitors the status of city pavement with an automatic alert notification system that warns of the characteristics and location of asphalt defects in real time, and integrates the results with the municipal information system.

The proposed solution is a defect detection device located in a vehicle, a server with a geographic information system (GIS) that allows the display of results, and an interface with the information system of the City Council.

The defect detection device is based on different image sensors that allow a three-dimensional high-speed acquisition, and on the use of image processing algorithms that provide the defect 3D profile with a millimetre resolution. Some of the parameters extracted in the characterization of asphalt defects are its position, the horizontal and vertical length, depth and volume. All these parameters are provided in their average, minimum and maximum value.
